Your Annual Fund gift provides vital support for the development of quality exhibitions and innovative education programs that define the Museum and serve local, national and international audiences—and you!

Over one million visitors have entered the Grand Hall, over 75,000 children have experienced our educational programs and untold thousands have benefited from the economic growth sparked by the renaissance of Tacoma’s bustling Thea Foss Waterway. In just five years, the Museum has given the Northwest region a new kind of international presence, drawing visitors from near and far. Your support will help us continue this service to you, to our visitors, our children and our community.

3 more great reasons to contribute to the Annual Fund:

1. Your gift will support the programs that bring creative expression—and some serious science—to area school children.

We know from numerous studies that arts education significantly increases students’ overall test scores and problem-solving abilities, but funding cutbacks have resulted in a dismal lack of arts resources in local school districts. Your gift will help us continue to provide innovative programs that reach out to kids in new ways, engage their interest, and build new skills and abilities.

Science of Art is one of the Museum’s most popular programs. With your help, 3,000 middle and high school students will learn criticial science and math concepts through an innovative curriculum that engages students in learning sciences through art. (Molten glass is a wonderful medium for fascinating lessons in chemistry and physics!)

2. Your gift will expand learning and innovative thinking for families and create new opportunities for at-risk youth, through the magic of art.

Partnering with institutions like Remann Hall, Pierce County’s juvenile detention facility, the Museum’s educators and artist-mentors work with over 200 incarcerated girls each year. This remarkable program was developed in response to an urgent need to provide young female offenders with meaningful activities designed to transform their lives for the better. The young women, who range in age from 12 to 17, learn about themselves and the choices they can make through art, poetry, photography, and for some, glassblowing.

Every second Saturday of the month is Family Day at the Museum. Families with children of all ages, including the very young, explore the ideas behind the art in the galleries and the Studio. Together, families meet artists, create artwork, view performances, and go on lively interactive tours of the Museum. By exploring together, families share experiences that stimulate creativity, encourage expression, and bring them closer together.

3. Your gift keeps the creative fires burning.

The constant presence of artists working in the Hot Shop Amphitheater is a defining element of the Museum of Glass. Since opening in 2002, more than 350 artists, from internationally acclaimed masters to high school interns, have fascinated thousands of visitors with their creativity as they turn molten glass into art. By supporting both established and new glass artists and providing opportunities for visitors to witness their creative process, the Museum of Glass brings the work of art alive!

Your gift to the Museum of Glass is critical to help us continue to provide (and originate!) exceptional exhibitions and educational programming. Revenue from admissions and membership covers only a fraction of the Museum's operating costs. Your gift to the Annual Fund is essential to the work we do.

Gifts of any amount are appreciated. Please give generously.
