Visiting Artists
Visiting Artist Program
The Museum’s Visiting Artist Program hosts internationally-known and emerging artists in our world-class Hot Shop to create new works in glass with our professional team of artists. We invite artists whose work is exhibited (or will be exhibited) in our galleries or whose work is thematically or technically linked to our exhibition program. One piece created during the residency is selected by the artist and Museum staff to be added to our Visiting Artist Collection. These objects are displayed on a rotating basis as part of the ongoing Made at the Museum exhibition.
Visiting Artist residencies are typically scheduled for five days (Wednesday – Sunday) once a month during the winter, spring and fall. Each summer we present the Visiting Artist Summer Series, a partnership with Pilchuck Glass School, which brings an artist each week through July and August. Each Visiting Artist presents a Conversation with the Artist lecture and slide presentation on the final day of the residency. Check our online calendar for specific dates and times.

Featured Artists
We also offer local and regional artists an opportunity to push the limits of their work as Featured Artists. Offering a diverse mixture of culture, style, focus and expertise, these artists create a sense of excitement and wonder as they experiment and explore new directions in their art that may not be possible in their own studios.
Featured artists appear frequently in the Hot Shop, usually for a day or two at a time. Every Friday you can come see a Featured Artist as part of our Hot Lunch Program.

2008 Visiting Artist Summer Series
June 13 - September 2, 2007
The Museum of Glass and Pilchuck Glass School will again collaborate to present the 2007 Summer Hot Shop Artist Series. This year’s 12-week Summer Series begins June 13 and continue through Labor Day weekend.
Local and international artists come together in the Northwest every summer to serve as instructors and mentors at Pilchuck Glass School. With the Summer Series, the Museum and Pilchuck have partnered to offer a unique and exciting opportunity for museum visitors to view the creative process of these glass masters who do not regularly work in venues open for public observation.
